If you’d like to have a play around with the Rig from the Introduction Video Tutorials while you are watching them, you can dowload it here.
Admittedly this rig could be much better, an improved humanoid rig is being developed at the moment and will be available here shortly. You can keep an eye on its development in the develop section of this site.

I can’t get any of the controllers to work, I am missing something here?
May 5th, 2006, at 5:17 pm #Hi Dale
Tell me what you’re doing cos I cant guage what you have done so far…
Activate IK Boost? (Ctrl + B)
If that doesn’t work - try increasing the controller size in the General IK Boost Options…
Also, you may prefer to use this other rig

it’s a bit better

May 9th, 2007, at 5:32 am #For some reason, when I fix the right foot and pull on the left foot, the legs move but the character remains stuck in the same place. This behavior differs from the video, where the character gets pulled along with the left foot to create a stepping motion. Could I have some IK Boost option that is set incorrectly? I noticed similar behavior with a rig that I made myself.
(I’m using Lightwave 9.2 on MacOSX.)
hi Tim,
there was a bug introduced in the last release of 9.2 that locks the main controller whenever a controller is fixed.
the easiest workaround is to do your posing in 9.0 for now, and open in 9.2 when rendering.
Also, this rig is quite out of date, you will find more fluid ones in later posts (the time-lapse-animation is the latest one uploaded, I think - look in the comments for links to the rigs)
and I have some more bad news for you
- if you don’t already know, I hear that Undo does not work for IK Boost on the Mac platform.
May 9th, 2007, at 8:37 am #First time trying to use IK Booster. When one activates the IK Booster does the small colored circles show up at all the bones? Could someone do a beginners walk through from the point the object w/bones is placed in layout, please!!!!

November 27th, 2007, at 2:17 pm #Hi - Thanks for all your help. One of the things that I do no understand is when I open nerd in modeler, the bones are facing away for the character and the bones and the character do not overlap. So when I try to use the rig with another character do I line them up and have them face the same direction or leave it as is. Thank you
